*The
Legend of Charity*

Back in
the days of legend
and lore
Came words from a runner, but really much more
Said the runner:
Quick heartbeats among friends, and
passion for life
Helps avoid sadness, ill feeling, and strife
In life's precious journey let our candles burn bright
You get what you give, from the morn
'til the night
Let your stairway to the heavens be your
driving goal
Wear your fitness on your body, if not on your soul
For a new day will dawn for kindness of like
minds
The music will inspire; fond memories shall rewind
May small gifts to others be the
threads that we weave
A grand scheme with running, and
what we can achieve
Those words left in a forest
of myth, tales, and truths
Were found by the innocent, indeed
they were youths
Runners rounded the forest, and
swiftly came near
With one always leading - it was so very clear
That runner: Male, wing-footed, they
all did surmise
T'was really Charity: fleet-footed,
full
beauty in disguise
The wall with a sign read 'hearts
of gold'
And then just below 'choose a path', it
told
In choosing the gold from inside
and not out
A legend became she, with no boast
and
no shout
Her tribute long-due .... a shame
some may say
But others tell of runners putting
forth a grand day
And when it approaches, it's
simple, they'll see
Just give unto others, and run all
with me
