Volunteers

Language Translation

English certainly is a universal language! But, obviously, an event called "World Run Day" should be communicated  to all people - of all languages.

Our desire is to communicate this event in as many languages as possible. The volunteers listed help us to assist runners and charities in all corners of the world. They help make the event complete!

edith.arnu@wanadoo.fr

Edith Arnu

French

Edith Arnu is a freelance translator with a BICET , the Cambridge Certificate of Proficiency,  and the TOEIC. She lives in Paris and travels extensively. Her visits to New York are both work and event related. She is fit and full of energy! She's been with us for three years.

dacarbox@yahoo.co.uk

Diego Carrasco

Spanish

Diego is our translator originally from sunny Spain. He's now teaching in northern France. He's translated some of our site, translated letters, and enjoys assisting us in conquering language barriers. He loves the language, loves to assist us, and likes running.

Charity Support

E-mailing and talking long-distance to Development Directors and Fundraisers, is quite rewarding. These individuals are responsible for programs that bring needed dollars to their special causes.

The enthusiasm and cooperation in getting work done is a wonderful sight. Special care by many people has gone into planning World Run Day™.

Office Support

To support an event of this magnitude can be staggering. The staff at our Empire State Building, New York City headquarters (350 5th Avenue) last year consisted of  people that collect/sort mail. It's a very small operation. Phone service is year-long for the event using cellular phone technology. We try our best to accommodate time-zone changes and respond to e-mail within 48 hours. Thanks to Indro Neri of the site
www.runtheplanet.com for banner design. Thanks to our friends at www.sysoft.com as they all survived the WTC tragedy and continue to support our results posting. Our hearts go out to those who are missing.

Most operations are based throughout the US:

Texas: T-shirt manufacturer
Philadelphia: Website support
California: Event Registration
New York Data Base/Web Design/PR
Florida Contact with Int'l PR
New York PR & Sponsorship Mkt'g
All Event Promotion

Work is also done by an international network of volunteers that grows annually. We're always looking for people to support us in far away lands.

If you would like to help us for the 2003 event please reply in the subject line "Volunteer" to info@runday.com.

General Thanks

Thanks to the enthusiastic runners, media, www.runnersworld.com , and the United Nations for kind words about this event.

A letter we received from the United Nations back in 1999 makes it all worth while!

On behalf of the Secretary-General, I would like to thank you for your letter describing "World Run Day." The Secretary-General attaches great importance to the role played by activities such as yours in fostering the goals of the Charter of the United Nations. He congratulates you on your important mission to support humanitarian organizations and charities.

The Secretary-General has asked me to convey to you his thanks for your kind words and his best wishes for continued success in your activities.
