ShamRockersUSA hosts World Run Day in Sarasota , Florida !

ShamRockersUSA, Inc. a premier teen running and self-esteem club in Sarasota , Florida , was the proud sponsor for the 9 th Annual World Run Day, a global celebration of running hosted by national event director Bill McDermott in New York .

Anyone who runs or walks the John Ringling Bridge on Saturday mornings know of the ShamRockers ~ the fabulous “Green Team” highlighted earlier this year in the Sarasota Herald Tribune about the original six young men who are completing their training for the upcoming Walt Disney World Half Marathon at the age of 14.

Now, with nearly 30 new ShamRocker members who recently joined the Fall 2007 Team, this expanded group takes over the bridge as they begin their own Half Marathon training for next year.

As Event Director for World Run Day in Sarasota , the ShamRockers supported World Run Day through t-shirt sales to raise funds for the Disney Endurance Series Minnie Marathon and Muddy Buddy races in May of 2008. They also started the day participating in a local 5k race that raised money for the Special Olympics of Sarasota!

Nine of our 12- to 16-year old runners joined over one hundred others who came out on a spectacular autumn morning to run from South Lido Beach Park out to St. Armand’s Circle and back. Here are the names of the running ShamRockers and their place in the rankings:

            Jeremy Wall 5 th place Sarasota School of Arts and Sciences
