WORLD RUN DAY - SAN SIMEON, CA:

Two other women besides me signed-up through Active.com. So officially it was an "event of 3". Four others showed up and I explained that they could sign up until 11:59 tonight at Active.com. So unoffically we had an event of 7.

The only funds raised were what the three of us paid through Active.com. I had a table set up with info about World Run Day and the UNwfp and local organizatons involved with providing food. I did not set up to accept donations, I wasn't sure how to do that.

There were some digital photos taken. I hope the lady who took them will forward them to me in time for the next press release.

As you know, I started a little more than late getting an event together. I was only able to get one annoucement in our local weekly paper.  Five found out about the event from the paper, one from me personally, the other from Active.com and she happen to have been involved with World Run Day 2004, so that was neat.

I set the time for 10 A.M. which was a little late to get started, because by that time it was very warm and the Sunday traffic on Hwy 1 was a little busy. One lady was a distant runner and she ran up by the Hearst Castle . Others went shorter distances.

The 7 of us had a good time. And we'll do it in 2007, but set the event time earlier, probably 8 a.m.  We all agreed that next year with a little more advertisment, we'll have a much larger turn-out.

Take Care,

Bev
