Another year and it was time to design the next World Run Day T-shirt. Here is the thought behind the 2018 design:

1. Running is Incredible. Historically, it’s been around for thousands of years. In 2018 we get a great opportunity to honor those who came before us and also help promote the healthy benefits of running on a global basis.

Admittedly, there is a great running hall of fame; but what about those less than famous runners that started it all? I mean, from the very beginning. Who was that first runner? They were ordinary runners like you and I.

Initially, it appears that the greeks had a foothold (sorry for the pun) on running – based upon myths and ancient artifacts such as pottery design. We’ve incorporated special Greek Lettering on our design to provide an added  sense of history. 

Our 2018 design incorporates Greek Runners taken from some ancient pottery artifacts. But what about the batons, or “scrolls” that are being carried forward? The message of running being communicated to future generations is what we are attempting to capture.

2. The words spelled out on top of (and underneath) the earth design includes just some of the many benefits attributed to running: Healthy Heart, Bone Health, Self-Esteem, Happiness, Longevity, Mental Health, Stress Relief, Weight Control, Metabolic Function, and Immune System. These attributes of well-being have been expanded on our website; only a few could fit on our event shirt.

3. Our carefully placed homage this year is a small shout-out to a hero in the sport (and for arguments sake – there are many). PRE deserves special mention.

This will be a  new tradition for our event t-shirt. 

4. Like any piece of artwork, draw your own conclusion on our design and see what message it conveys to you.  Show us your thoughts on social media using #worldrunday , #runningshirts or any running hashtag you can think of.

That being said, We’re always looking for more good designs for the next t-shirt…
